ACCIONA Energía is growing, and looking to develop projects in Western Australia. To learn more about the local community, Caroline Bommes, General Manager, Brand and Marketing of ACCIONA Energía, joined the International Women's Day Event organised by The Darkan Country Women's Association. The evening celebrated the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and was attended by 90 resident CWA members.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March each year. This year’s theme was 'Invest in women: Accelerate progress. Caroline Bommes, General Manager, Brand and Marketing of ACCIONA Energía, joined the International Women's Day Event organised by The Darkan Country Women's Association to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

It was an empowering night at the Moodiarrup Hall with inspiring and motivating words from guest speakers CWA Honorary Life Member member Rosa Tognela, Jen Warburton, Founder of Lucinda's Everlastings & Gail McGowan, Chancellor of Murdoch University.

After around 100 years of supporting women, in 2021, very few members of The Darkan CWA remained. After a call for new members through a local newspaper advertisement, without which the committee would be dissolved. Bonnie Telfer took the initiative, and along with her mum was able to save the CWA from coming to an end.

"It was such a pleasure to attend The Darkan CWA event on such an important day. Connecting with 90 women from Darkan and the surrounding areas, to hear some of them share their journeys from the region to becoming leaders in their field, and to hear about their ongoing connection to the region was a testament to the strength of regional communities and the ongoing importance of the CWA.” said Caroline Bommes.

Through our projects, and our distinct owner-operator approach, ACCIONA Energía aims to become long-term members of regional communities and our involvement in this event will hopefully be just the start of a long-term journey.
